The founder of the Mbizana base Non-profit Organization (NPO), Bulelwa Ntakana Foundation, vibrant Bulelwa Ntakana was nominated for She Global Awards in Africa. The awards are meant to recognize female contributions in Africa. They consist of Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Zambia, Nigeria, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Malawi and Uganda. These awards look at the females that have a positive impact in the community development and encourage communities to become entrepreneurs.
Speaking to ECV, Ntakana stressed that she didn’t see it coming, taking into account that she launched the foundation in July last year. “Being nominated and competing with women from all over Africa it’s a mammoth achievement and really amazing. It gives hope that one day our community will be well developed,” said Ntakana.
Bulelwa established the NPO on 30 May 2024, with the purpose of incorporating the interventions for the public benefit and the objectives related to cultural, economic, health and wellness as well as education. The main objective of the foundation was to work with the private sector, government and other NGOs to reach and develop communities to become entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, from its inception the NPO hosted a number of events in the areas of Winnie Madikizela Mandela local municipality and in Alfred Nzo District Municipality. The activities conducted by the NPO included aerobic charity events, fundraising Gala dinners, handing over of uniforms as well as sanitary towels in schools of Alfred Nzo.
