The Eastern Cape based only Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaigners, Chippa United Football Club has announced the appointment of the new head coach, ahead of what promises to be a defining 2025/26 season. Sinethemba Badela who hails from Sterkspruit was officially appointed this week as a successor of Thabo September, who left the club towards the end of last season. By the time we were coming on print it was not yet clear what would happen with Mabhuti Khenyeza who co-coach with Thabo September was.

Badela’s journey is a testament to what is possible when potential meets opportunity, and the team is honoured to give him the platform to lead. The appointment in Chippa marked his first appointment as a head coach in the PSL as all along was working as assistant coach.

Meanwhile coach Badela brings with him international experience, having served as assistant coach at Wydad AC in Morocco, one of the most decorated clubs in African Football. Will the Chippa be able to get into the top eight in this forthcoming season as last season finished at number 10?
