Duo arrested in possession of more than R150 000 worth of stolen livestock.

The two men Hardson Xhonya (41) and Avela Gigi (34) appeared before Ngcobo Magistrate’s Court this week following their arrest in possession of suspected stolen livestock (cattle) worth more than R150 000. 

According to the police spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, it is alleged that on 30 September 2025, Ngcobo police received information about allegations of the two suspects being in possession of the suspected stolen herd of cattle. She said suspects were caught and allegedly led police to an Isuzu bakkie that was allegedly used in the commission of the crime hidden in the forest.

They were both arrested and appeared before Ngcobo magistrate court. The driver of the bakkie Xhonya was released due to insufficient evidence to link him to the case while Gigi was remanded in custody to reappear on the Wednesday, 8 September 2025.
