The Eastern Cape AfroSoul singer-songwriter who hails from Barkly East is expected to release a heartfelt love song titled “Mamela” in isiXhosa. Mwezi Ngutyana who is known as Baweze on the stage is set to capture hearts this Valentine’s month with the release of his powerful new single ‘Mamela’.
Dropping in February, the month of love, the track arrives as a timely reminder that real connection demands more than grand gestures, it requires being heard, valued and spiritually grounded.
The single marks a new chapter for the artist formerly known as Mwezi The Vocalist. After taking a break from music to prioritize his health, Baweze came back and took Mzansi by storm. He stressed that the song speaks directly to anyone who has ever felt like second place in a relationship. “I loved this girl, I put her first in everything, but I always came second.
Friends told me to leave, but deep down you hope she’ll change. You feel undervalued. That’s where “Mamela” comes from and wants when people listen to Mamela; I want them to forget about me and look inward, to introspect as well as do right in their own comers of love,” said Baweze. Released in February, Baweze wanted Mamela to convince listeners to invite Go back into relationships. “There is no fear in love, perfect love casts out fear. So, this month we claim to celebrate love and let’s practice the real thing,” he concluded. Meanwhile “Mamela” is available on all major streaming platforms from early February 2026.
