The parliament has expressed its gratification with the work done to help flood victims by Mnquma Local Municipality. This was said after members of Parliament Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), conducted an in loco inspection of flood zones to assess the effectiveness and progress in interventions made by the different government spheres since the flooding disaster broke out on 10 June 2025.
Following a briefing by provincial, district and local leadership, the delegation visited Skiti Informal Settlement where they interacted with the flood victims. The team proceeded to evaluate living conditions in two Mass Care Centres where some of the victims are temporarily accommodated. Bishop MPL Thabo Matiwane chaired the session, who also stressed his satisfaction in the work that has been done up to so far. The session was attended by among others, Mnquma Mayor, the mayor, Mr. Tunyiswa Manxila-Nkamisa with members of the Mayoral Committee.
