The Mnquma Executive Mayor, Cllr Tunyiswa Manxila-Nkamisa conducted an oversight visit to all current infrastructure development projects in Butterworth CBD and surrounding townships. The Executive Mayor interacted with contractors and was briefed on projects’ progress, including challenges. The projects support thousands of families through job opportunities which opened as a result of the projects, she highlighted.
The Mayor was also joined by the Municipal Manager Silumko Mahlasela, who led a team of technicians from the Infrastructure Development Directorate. The Mayor has expressed relief that all projects are running on schedule without any interruptions. “Thanks to the cooperation of community members,” she concluded. The next visit of the delegation will take place soon in Centane and Ngqamakwe.
Meanwhile, amongst the projects visited by a mayor included: *Construction of Gcuwa Mall, electrification of Extension 2, Butterworth CBD, Msobomvu Stadium Upgrade (Phase 2): The new Msobomvu Sportsfield, due for completion in July 2027, boasts world-class indoor and outdoor facilities for various sporting codes, including an Athletics Track, two Soccer/Rugby pitches and a Netball court, among others. It will also feature two grandstands with a 3000-seater capacity.
