The Youth Citizen Action Programme (YCAP), based in Toli Senior Secondary School (SSS) in Lusiksiki, Eastern Cape is appealing to the South Africans or any Good Samaritan to join them in its endeavor to rescue a 16-year-old learner from poverty-stricken family. Lwando Ndzimakhwe, who is also a grade 10 learner in Toli SSS, is living with diabetes and facing unimaginable challenges that extremely affect his academic performance and overall well-being. At home they are 15, living in a single mud grass-thatched rondavel. Due to the large numbers of family members, he struggles in managing his diabetes, as he often goes hungry, unable to use his medication as well as misses’ hospital appointments, and falls behind in school.

The plight of Lwando was discovered by Siphokazi Gambushe from Ngobozana location, a dedicated educator in Toli SSS and YCAP advocate and she decided to intervene. Through YCAP, Gambushe initiated a school garden project to support Lwando and his family. Even though the project provided some relief, it became clear that more substantial help was needed.

Gambushe, now is calling on the public and South Africans at large to help the boy and his family to secure a proper home and access grant to support his education and health needs. “We appeal to the community, organizations, and individuals to come forward and offer assistance to Lwando’s family”, she besought so. Meanwhile, the family has an 11-year-old boy with a disability who is not receiving the support he needs.

To any Good Samaritan who is willing to change the life of this destitute family, can donate towards building a home or any assistance to restore their dignity and create a brighter future for them or you may contact 078 080 7418.
