The first group to play Mbhaqanga music in the Eastern Cape, Miya Brothers has released their red-hot fourth album this week. The Bizana born brothers, Sipho Jerome Miya and Mandla Nicolus Miya in past year spent a lot of their time in the studio and eventually came out with this 14 track album which is expected to take South Africa by storm.
Miya Brothers started their journey in this genre with their first album Ngiyazihluphekela then Ulunge Ngani, Intlekisa and this one which is called Ngizogug’Ejele.Sipho, who is also an educator in Port St Johns, said it’s their best album so far and very informative. He said even though it was not easy to compile this album, their dedication at last gave them fruitful results.
“The message on the new album is that; let’s respect our parents otherwise we will end up in jail with our bad choices,” he said. The duo in this album with the surprise Bonus song worked with Wiseman Nduna Chiya and Professor Nyawo in RPM studios in Mtubatuba. The album is on CD for now but will be on all Digital platforms soon.
