The Eastern Department of Health confirmed the death of a security guard who was stationed at Livingstone Hospital in Gqeberha. The security guard died on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, after an accident at her workstation.It was reported that the female deceased aged 35 was on duty and while opening gate 3, the gate came off the tracks and fell on her and it caused serious injuries.
Immediately after the accident, her co-workers rushed her to the emergency ward, but she succumbed to her injuries. A guard was working for Nomgwenye Security Solutions.The Director of Communications in the Eastern Cape Department of Health sent deepest condolences to her family at this time of mourning. “We are making arrangements for psychological counseling and debriefing for other security guards who were with her at the time of her passing,” said Manana.
He revealed that the relevant department staff is also arranging a meeting with Nomngwenye Security Solutions to pave the way forward in terms of how we can assist the family during this difficult time.
