It was a day filled with laughter, heartfelt discourses, and small gestures that meant the world to the grandpas and grandmas at Mount Frere Senior Citizens Centre (MFSCC) and Empilweni Home in Mthatha respectively. Kaloku, the LCM Ludidi Properties team on Mandela Day spent time with these mkhulus and gogos at these homes, providing delicious and healthy food as well as presents which brought joy to the elders and that feeling of recognition within the society. Their faces lit up with gratitude, as the team shared not just a meal, time care, and the warmth of human connection –reminding us of all that true generosity lies in giving of ourselves.
In the spirit of Ubuntu (human decency), service and unity, the team dedicated their 67 minutes to spending time with the elderly in both centres. The team members who were leading this campaign, Nolubabalo Mpisane and Ndoda Langa, shared moving presentations on why these visits were so close to the heart of LCM Ludidi Properties. They outlined the company’s commitment to being an active, caring part of the communities they serve.
The Chairperson of MFSCC, Nokuzola Canca expressed her gratitude for what LCM Ludidi Properties did to the elders. “We are humbled by LCM Ludidi Properties’ unwavering support. It is in acts like these that we see the true meaning of Ubuntu towards others. May the youth be inspired to respect their elders in the community.” she emphasized.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, the MFSCC was named the beneficiary of the annual LCM Ludidi Memorial Fun Run/Walk, which was held at Sophia Park, KwaBhaca. Through the support of the runners and sponsors, the event raised R30 000 to help cover the centre’s daily running costs-a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together.
