A Grade 11 learner Emihle Mlomo from Ntabankulu Senior Secondary School in the Alfred Nzo District, emerged as the overall winner of the Essay Writing and Presentation Competition at the Provincial Intenrational Museums Day (IMD) 2026 celebrations.
Emihle’s outstanding performance earned her first place and the honour of representing the Eastern Cape at the national competition later this year. In her essay Emihle explored the significance of South African museums in the Eastern Cape.
She highlighted the province’s rich cultural heritage, diverse histories, and the important role museums play in preserving and promoting these valuable legacies for future generations. Her confidence and enthusiasm in what she was doing made them conquer the province of the Eastern Cape and even at the national level she promised to maintain the same stride.
