The Mzantsi Traditional and Cultural Music Awards (MTCMA), has announced its 5th Annual ceremony which will take place next week Saturday, 25 April 2026, at the Johannesburg. The prestigious event is a brainstorm of the Eastern Cape born afro pop singer who hails from kwiNyana kaNtontoela, Libode, Nomdakazana Dlamini.
The event will celebrate South Africa’s rich heritage under the theme of “Preserving Our Roots”,. This milestone edition features six Honorary awards, 20 competitive categories and five special Founder’s Desk Awards, specifically designed to acknowledge consistency and excellence in upcoming talent. The 2026 ceremony will also features a momentous segment honoring legendary icons contemporary masters for their profound contributions, including:Dr Tu Nokwe, Imithende, Ingane Zoma, Amatshitshi Amhlophe, Shwi no Mtekhala and Zuko SA (special recognition for excellence in composition).
Nomdakaza was proud of her achievement up to now with her initiative she started from nothing but since its inception grew from strength to strength. “So far, I’m proud that MTCMA winners start to be recognized for bookings and in the last 4 annuals, I have honoured 50 legends,” she said.
