An athlete from rural XJ Athletic Club XJ Athletic Club in the mountainous town of EmaXesibeni, Vakele ‘VK V8 engine’ Jamile made his name and for his club XJ as he emerged in the top 3 of Rising Sun Chartsworth 52 kilometres Ultra marathon in Durban recently. The marathon was graced by more than 3000 athletes from South Africa and beyond the borders of this country.

According to Jamile the ultra-marathon was very nice the second half was where it started to challenge him. “I led the race with Nkosiyethu Mhlongo and at about 35 kilometres Nkosingiphile Ntuli came gun blazing and overtook us, we tried to chase but because of his experience in the route we couldn’t catch him. It was my first ultra-marathon and I learnt a lot from it. To be honest the route was very brutal and it prepared me for the upcoming Comrades Marathon,” he said,

Another regiment of XJ AC who is expected to do wonders in College Sports, Arts and Culture of South Africa (COSACSA) in Greenpoint Stadium in Western Cape is Aqhama Gxoko.
