The LCM Ludidi Family Memorial Foundation has announced the upcoming race which will take place on 16 May 2026 KwaBhaca (formerly known as Mt Frere) at Sophia Park. This year’s race includes a 5 kilometre, 10km and 21 km races open to all ages. There are cash prizes to be won, and medals for the first 300 finishers. There will also be aerobics bootcamp for the fitness enthusiasts. The medical screening tent will be open to the public for free and there will be a career guidance talk with Nondumiso Phakathi from Nelson Mandela University (NMU), as well as some local TVET colleges available to discuss 2027 admissions.
This event aims to raise funds for various NPO’s each year. According to Zama Mpofu of LCM Ludidi Properties in 2026 their focus will be on Ntabazengcuka Athletics Club. She said the club makes a contribution towards nation building and healing of the Alfred Nzo area, through the development of athletics, from a grassroot level to the highest attainable level.
Ntabazengcuka has members with ages ranging from 10 years old to the oldest member who is 80 years old. Members are often school children or unemployed and therefore lack the funds needed to pay the annual club affiliation fee. Through sponsorship support for this race, Ntabazengcuka will use the funds raised to:
• Transport athletes to and from sporting events, supply athletes with running gear and athletics equipment such as shot put, javelin, measuring tape, electronic timers, etc
She called on sponsors to join hands in supporting the race. “We would be thrilled to partner with any sponsor to be able to help this athletics club achieve their goals. By sponsoring this race, you not only contribute to a meaningful cause but also gain valuable exposure and brand alignment with a charitable initiative that resonates with the community,” she said.
